Community Opioid Response Task Force

The Community Opioid Response Task Force was launched in December 2017 in response to the opioid crisis in Grande Prairie. The purpose of the Task Force is to coordinate community efforts in responding to the opioid crisis to develop a response based on local need and resources.

The Task Force is composed of school district representatives, health care representatives, RCMP, social services organizations, community members, individuals with lived-experience in the community, and several municipal government departments.

Key achievements of the Community Opioid Response Task Force:

Development and distribution of a needle disposal guide for Grande Prairie
Creating a Grande Prairie specific video series about the opioid crisis to use for education around stigma
The drafting of a Community Opioid Response document to guide community collaboration on the opioid response.
Creating a Grande Prairie focused resource website in collaboration with Community Social Development
Winner of the 2019 awards for FCSSAA
