Please join us for a memorial walk and candlelight vigil for MMIWG2S+
Schedule:
5:00 pm
– Meet at GPRC for the unveiling and blessing of Spirit Sisters Rock (located along the Muskoseepi Park trails at the NNE end of the College)
– Proclamation by City of Grande Prairie
– Welcoming Remarks by Circle of Indigenous Students and Dignitaries
– Jingle Dress dance and pow wow drum (Call out to all Jingle Dress dancers to come dance for the sisters)
5:45 pm
– Procession of walkers will gather at Spirit Sisters Rock and proceed to Grande Prairie Friendship Centre via Wapiti Road and 100 st
(walkers are encouraged to wear blue in solidarity with NWAC October 4 SIS, hold banners/posters, and a picture of your loved one).
6:30 pm
– Stew and Bannock at Grande Prairie Friendship Centre
– Honour Song for families of MMIWG2S+ (please bring framed pictures of your loved ones for the honour table)
– Open Mic (family members are encouraged to speak and share their story).
– Candlelight Vigil
– Closing Round Dance
